Mathematics Courses Overview
The Mathematics Department offers a comprehensive program aimed at developing strong analytical and problem-solving skills in students, from Junior to Senior Cycle.
Maths Junior Cycle Course
Target Group: Students in the Junior Cycle, typically aged 12–15 (Years 1–3).
Course Content: Covers key areas including algebra, geometry, statistics, probability, and an introduction to functions.
Aim: To lay down a strong foundation in mathematics, nurture logical reasoning and problem-solving skills, and prepare students for progression into the Senior Cycle.
Maths Senior Cycle Course
Target Group: Students in the Senior Cycle, typically aged 15–18 (Years 4–6).
Course Content: Builds on Junior Cycle knowledge, exploring calculus, trigonometry, advanced algebra, sequences and series, number theory, probability, and statistical inference in greater depth.
Aim: To develop abstract thinking and the ability to apply mathematics across topics, ensuring students are well-equipped for higher education and future career pathways.
Leaving Certificate Maths Exam Course
Target Group: Students preparing for the Irish Leaving Certificate Examination.
Course Content: Revision of all key syllabus areas with a focus on problem-solving, exam techniques, and time management.
Aim: To strengthen students’ confidence, improve exam performance, and consolidate knowledge for success in the Leaving Certificate exams.
